Towards ethics and best practices in distant public service interpreting in Poland

Resumen

Este artículo analiza los retos éticos a los que se enfrentan los intérpretes judiciales en Polonia que, al igual que sus colegas en otros países, experimentan un enorme cambio en la profesión como consecuencia de la transición de la comunicación cara a cara a la comunicación a distancia. Los intérpretes judiciales polacos disponen del código deontológico, que, sin embargo, esporádicamente aborda las cuestiones relativas a la interpretación a distancia. De conformidad con la legislación nacional y europea, las vistas orales se llevaban a cabo por videoconferencia mucho antes del estallido de la pandemia. Un análisis de las directrices y normas de procedimiento de los tribunales muestra que los principios éticos y las normas profesionales relativos a la interpretación judicial presencial y a distancia no difieren de forma flagrante, por lo que no parece necesario cambiar radicalmente estos principios y normas, sino sólo aclararlos y redefinirlos para sensibilizar a intérpretes, litigantes y representantes de la justicia ante los nuevos retos.
