Descriptive study on intercultural mediation at the sexual and reproductive health public services with Chinese patients: analysing improving proposals and their application in the Valencian Community

This paper aims to provide an overview of the improvement proposals that have been suggested over the last years regarding linguistic and cultural services provided to foreign patients in healthcare centers. After analysing those proposals from the scope of Chinese patients attending sexual and reproductive healthcare centers in the Valencian Community, we will suggest a list of recommendations in application to our object of inquiry. Those suggestions highlight the important role of intercultural mediators and the need to provide them with the proper resources in order to maximize the quality of the service that is offered and adapt it to patients’ and doctors’ requirements.
