Mediation of the interpreter as a driving force for inclusion and the partnership of nations

Social changes in the last few decades, and the economic and health crisis, highlight the significance of the role of the interpreter as a means to achieve the rapprochement of nations and their people through dialogue. This mediation, in different settings where dialogue interpreting occurs, appears to be controversial from an ethical point of view, especially, in public services as we can observe in interpreting research. In light of this situation, our work reflects on the cornerstone principles of interpreting codes of ethics and focuses on observing the accord between the behaviour of the interpreter-mediator and the deontology of the interpreting profession.
