Author Biography

Verónica Alarcón-García, Valencian International University (VIU)

VERÓNICA ALARCÓN-GARCÍA holds a degree in Communication & Master’s Degree in Creative and Humanistic Translation (Universitat de València). Together with her team, Verónica has played a fundamental role as an English< >Spanish interpreter in the Public Emergency Services of the Generalitat Valenciana, establishing a cultural and linguistic link between foreign citizens and the Administration.

Her role as a multilingual emergency dispatcher in the emergency telephone number “1·1·2 Comunitat Valenciana” marked the beginning of her doctorate, a long road ahead in which the interpreter intends to analyse the mechanisms that are activated in this type of mediation in order to facilitate, professionalise and recognise this invisible but extraordinary task which, every day, saves lives. Currently, Verónica develops her career as a teacher, researcher and academic coordinator of the Degree in Translation and Interpreting at the Valencian International University (VIU).
